Bring a bra to this year’s Show!
Show organisers are asking the fairer sex to bring a new or used bra for charity as part of their “entrance fee” on Women’s World Day of Prayer.
Every year, early on the Friday morning of the Randfontein Show, hundreds of women descend on the Show Marquee for the Women’s World Day of Prayer (WWDP), an event held in conjunction with the international WWDP.
According to Joy Hamann of the Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA), “This event has become a firm favourite with young and old who come to listen to guest speakers, enjoy gospel music and receive the Word of God before heading off to work or back home. Some say the event is food for the soul and a good way to start the day.”

This year’s guest speaker is Wanda Bam, a well-known radio presenter.
For many years Wanda felt she was losing herself, “piece by piece”. She then made the decision to free herself from a life of luxury, being in the spotlight and a lonely marriage. Wanda’s passion is to encourage women, and in particular, young people, to choose life, no matter their circumstances or past.
Entry to the Show grounds for this function is free (for women only) up until 8am (entry after 8am will be charged at standard rates). This year, Show organisers are asking the fairer sex to bring a new or used bra for charity as part of their “entrance fee”.
“We have joined hands with Zabra – a free bra initiative that collects pre-owned and new bras for women who can’t afford their own,” said Show Coordinator, Marcelle Mans.
According to Zabra’s founder, Jeanette Kruger, “We don’t deal with money but rely on our volunteer network of CupHolders to help us collect and deliver bras where they are needed.”
Several local charities have been identified and will receive bras collected at the WWDP. Jeanette Kruger will be flying in from the United Kingdom to briefly address the ladies at the event.
