R75 000 for Cansa!

On Saturday, 27 January, when the Power of Purple event took place, Thea Wille, the community mobiliser for the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa), got the surprise of her life.

At the fifth Cansa Relay for Life event held in Randfontein, which was a huge success, the Ben Morgenrood group (Ben Morgenrood Ford, Ben Morgenrood Mazda, Kia Motors Randfontein and Mahindra Randfontein) handed a cheque made out to Cansa for the amount of R75 000 to Thea.

At about 8.30 pm, Maryna Lutt, the Ben Morgenrood group Franchise Director, handed the cheque over. Thea and the rest of the Cansa members were unbelievably happy. Elsabé Botha, a member on the Cansa Relay commitee, is still smiling from ear to ear.

The main purpose of the event was to celebrate, remember and fight back against the terrible disease known as cancer.

Thea handed a certificate of appreciation to the Ben Morgenrood group, which would like to thank Dave Janse van Rensburg (owner of Alonza Investment Brokers), the National Confederation of Hunters’ Associations of South Africa (Chasa), and Charles and Riette Pieterse (owners of Tysa Management cc (Property Development)) for helping them to collect such a amazing amount of money.

The Cansa group would also like to thank Mapogo A Mathamaga, Spur, Hoërskool Riebeeckrand, Adlem Auto, PNA (Tambotie Mall), Tambotie Mall, Uncle Harry’s Roadhouse, AB Baby, Yellow Stone Auto, Yolandi Romarin, Life Robinson Private Hospital, Lenmed Hospital, Grain Carriers and Cartridge Cave for their assistance.
