On Saturday 17 February, the museum will stage a Valentine’s Open Day to give visitors an opportunity to learn more about the long and diverse history of land transport in South Africa. This is a family fun day for visitors of all ages. Activities include rides on vintage vehicles, a food stall, and a children’s playground. Visitors are also welcome to bring their own picnic baskets. Admission to the Museum is free of charge and there is no charge for the rides. A voluntary donation towards the upkeep and maintenance of the vehicles in the Museum would be greatly appreciated. Lorraine Gouws, eienaar van Mi Yehenraine Ryskool, gebruik perdry om kinders met emosionele probleme te help. Sy bied ook perdrylesse aan. Stalletjies en ‘n springkasteel, lekker musiek, eetgoed en ‘n ponierit is op die spyskaart. Nog ‘n lekkerte is ‘n kompetisie om te kyk hoe raak jou ma kan gooi. “Daar is nog meer pret, want wanneer jy die perd se stert op jou voorkop sit, is jou gesig dalk rooi!” het Lorraine vertel. Sy het bygevoeg dat dit ‘n geheim is wat hulle gaan uitloot, en hoeveel daarvan. Kaartjies vir die trekkings kan daar gekoop word, en dan moet jy net duim vashou dat die geluk aan jou kant gaan wees. “Jou spaarvarkie kan vir een dag honger ly; kom pak eerder jou munte in ‘n kreatiewe lyn,” het sy verder gesê. Jy het ook die opsie om ‘n deurnag te hou. Bestel net jou braai en slaai, bring jou drinkgoed en dan slaan jy tent op.
