JUST IN: Nine injured, one critical as taxi rolls

Nine injured, one of them critically, when a taxi rolled on the Hillshaven Road in Westonaria a short while ago.

Nine people were left injured, one of them critically, when a taxi rolled on the Hillshaven Road in Westonaria during the afternoon of Wednesday, 21 February.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, said, “ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find the taxi standing upright on the side of the road.  Several people were found lying around the light motor vehicle.

“It is understood that the taxi was found lying on its side, and was pushed upright, and then pushed to the side of the road.

“Paramedics assessed the patients and found that eight had sustained minor to moderate injuries while one woman had sustained numerous injuries, leaving her in a critical condition.

“Paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured woman with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the critically injured woman was airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Medical helicopter to Lenmed Randfontein for urgent treatment. The remaining patients were transported by ambulance to various hospitals for further treatment.”

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
