Today is Global Recycling day!
Seven questions we need to ask ourselves to ensure that we recycle responsibly.
The first ever Global Recycling Day will take place on Sunday, 18 March, and people around the world will come together and not see waste as useless, but as an opportunity.
Every year, the earth yields billions of tons of natural resources to transform into consumables. At some point, there will be nothing left. That’s why we must, as a planet, think again about what we throw away.
Here are seven questions we need to ask ourselves to ensure that we recycle responsibly:
1. Are you informed of the government’s recycling legislation ?
2. Do you know whether the brands that you buy are recycle friendly?
3. Are you committed to producing as little waste as you can?
4. Do you dispose of plastic bottles properly, so they can be recycled?
5. Do you know the Rand West Local City Municipalities policies and do you follow them?
6. Do you know what happens to your recyclables once they are taken away by the municipality?
7.Do you, your family and friends, mend, repair or reuse in order to get as much usefulness out of the items for as long as possible?
Recycling is also a job opportunity for a lot of less fortunate people in Randfontein and surrounding areas, so it creates jobs, and the same time look after our earth.
