Venterspost library reopened

Although the Venterspost Library was closed for nearly two years, this is no longer the case!

The Venterspost community is thrilled that their library has finally been reopened. The DA councillor for Wards 2 and 25, Gerhard Kruger, said the facility will benefit the many people in the community who are academically inclined.

Kruger said the Executive Mayor of the Rand West City Local Municipality, Mzi Khumalo, and Paul Willemburg, the DA Gauteng’s spokesperson for Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation, helped the process of getting the library re-opened by applying pressure and holding the government to account. “They have done a good job of helping us to make sure the facility is functional again. We appreciate the fact that they showed their commitment to the process,” Kruger added.

He said that since last August endless efforts had been made to get answers as to why the facility was not accessible to the people, especially school learners.

Kruger said when Willemburg was eventually approached for assistance, he submitted a set of questions to the MEC, to clarify the issues.

“The community is happy that the library is now open again. At the end of the day, this was for the benefit of the community.”

Kruger said those who will use the facility will also enjoy being able to use the WiFi facilities provided by the library. He also said the library is a considerable asset to the community.
