Meet Orlando Pirates’ oldest fan at age 100
Meet granny Rosy Mamokgolo Thupane who recently turned 100 and is probably the Buccaneers' oldest die-hard fan.
Mohlakeng granny Rosy Mamokgolo Thupane recently celebrated her 100th birthday in Motsumi Street along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
During the Herald’s visit, it was clear she still cherishes the memories of how she moved to Mohlakeng from Mafikeng and first became a domestic worker. She was later employed at Aranda.

A memory still with her today is the tragic 16 June uprisings in 1976 that affected the whole country, even Mohlakeng.
Asked how she has managed to stay so young all these years, she said, “It is through the mercy of God that I have managed to live up until now”.
She said she loves reading the Bible, watching television (especially soccer as she is a die-hard fan of Orlando Pirates, better known as the Buccaneers), enjoys meat pies and has a sweet tooth.
