Open doors for all in the community
The Business Breakfast will be on 8 June between 9am and 10am.
The Open Door Foundation is continuing its efforts to give the needy a new lease on life.
In one of its latest projects, the organisation will be raising money to provide school children with stationery during a Business Breakfast to be held at Tetelestai on Condor Drive, Helikonpark, on Friday 8 June.
Business owners will also see how their investments are used and who they benefit.
Koekoes Cordier, the Foundation’s Project Manager said the project is aimed at making sure that all needy people are empowered, by roping local businesses in to help develop the community.
“We have found that if you ask the public to donate money towards something, they tend to decline. So we thought we’d try another route, and ask businesses to assist, because they seem to have a greater sense of responsibility towards social development.”
Cordier said the project has made a commitment to help those who are in need.
“We ask them what they need, not what we can give them; then we make sure that we transfer skills to them so that they can carry on improving their lives.”
To uplift the community, the Foundation has embarked on various projects that have benefited the community and children in schools such as Jabulani, Badirile, and OR Tambo. Other projects include the Sis Gogo caregivers, which is a group of volunteers in Toekomsrus who give their time to feed orphaned and vulnerable children, and the Training for Teachers programme which currently helps teachers to receive accredited training.
