Be alert for fake Herald Facebook posts
Fake Facebook posts in the name of the Herald have been circulating.
The Herald recently discovered that sinister, fake Facebook posts in the name of the publication have been circulating.
This comes after malicious claims regarding the HIV/AIDS status and personal life of a Randfontein resident surfaced in a bogus Facebook post on Sunday 13 May in the Soweto area.
The Herald is imploring the community to be aware of these fake profiles that aim to bring the name of the publication into disrepute.
Herald editor, Clinton Botha said, “Attempts made to get one of the fake sources permanently removed from Facebook has been a success.
In the meantime, and to borrow from a Kellog’s advertisement, if it doesn’t say the Herald on the box, it’s not the Herald in the box!”
Botha also said official links to the Herald’s Facebook profile and official website are: Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/randfonteinherald/; Website – https://www.citizen.co.za/randfontein-herald/.
