Little Angels commemorate history of Youth Day
Little Angels Day Care decided to celebrate Youth Day by going back in time and reminding the learners and staff of what happened on 16 June 1976.
The principal of Little Angels Day Care, Chevonne Buitendag, decided to celebrate Youth Day by going back in time and reminding the learners and staff of what happened on 16 June 1976.
“We dressed in our old school uniforms on Friday to celebrate the history of this country,” Chevonne said.
“It’s important for me to celebrate this day, because everyone has forgotten what happened. In this school there is no colour and we are all equal and that’s what Youth Day is about.”
She said that the plan was to get everyone’s spirits up and that the staff really enjoyed it. The celebration was educational and fun.
Chevonne said that the school already has big plans for Nelson Mandela Day, which occurs in July.
