A festive season checklist
Make sure that you tick all the boxes before the festive season.
After a long year, we are all looking forward to a well-deserved break. But this isn’t called the Silly Season for no reason.
Denise de Bruyn, Financial Adviser at 1.618 Advisory Services said family and safety comes first, so let’s make sure that you tick all the boxes below:
1. Short-Term Insurance
Keep a copy of your car insurance policy in the cubbyhole. This will come in handy in an emergency (accidental or breakdown) to check what is covered and who to contact for car hire, roadside assistance and towing of your vehicle. Make sure your Driver’s licence hasn’t expired, and do not drive under the influence.
Make sure your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition
2. Medical Aid
If you are involved in an accident, make sure you are taken to the nearest approved facility. If you are not sure, contact your Scheme beforehand to obtain a list of approved Healthcare centres in the area you will be visiting.
3. Life Insurance / Funeral Policy
Travelling abroad? Make sure to contact your life insurance company. There could be a difference in risk that could affect your cover/ premium. Make sure that your beneficiaries are up to date and premiums are paid on your life and funeral cover.
4. Last Will and Testament
Make sure that your will is up to date and that a copy is kept in a place which is easily accessible in the event of anything happening.
She added, “This checklist can have life-changing consequences. I hope you managed to tick all the boxes. Have a safe journey.”
