The Herald goes back, way back, to 14 November 1986 for this week’s #ThrowbackThursday.
It’s Throwback Thursday and the Herald went back in time to 14 November 1986, when the front page story was headlined ‘Paramedici paraat’.
Two paramedics, Ian Bell and Busch Dempsey, thought on their feet when they responded to an emergency regarding a love triangle between a man, his pregnant wife and her lover.
The drama unfolded at a house in Second Street when the lover tried to blow up himself and his pregnant mistress by setting dynamite alight. The paramedics were the heroes of the day when they tried to save the life of the innocent unborn baby after the mother died in the explosion. Sadly, the baby was fatally wounded.
