• Until 23 December: Janice Honeyman’s Snow White – The Fairest Panto in all the Land at Joburg Theatre 

We have a kind, loveable heroine, a handsome, hunky prince, seven cute dwarfs, a magic mirror and of course the ultimate example of Evil – the wicked Queen HildegondaJanice Honeyman’s Snow White stars Desmond Dube in the comic role of Dame Dolla Diddledaddledoodledragon. John Robbie makes his pantomime debut in Snow White as The Major-Dumb-Ou of the Royal Palace of Cool Cornucopia. The ever-popular and hugely entertaining story of Snow White will be brought to life from page to stage in an enchanting production complete with stunning sets, beautiful costumes, breathtaking special effects and lots of comedy. The tale tells the story of an Enchantress who turns a cruel, unfeeling Prince into a hideous Beast. To break the spell, the Beast must learn to love another and earn her love in return before the last petal falls from an enchanted rose. Ten years later, in a small village far below the Beast’s castle, a beautiful and intelligent young woman, Belle, yearns for something more than her provincial life. • 23 November: Schuster is terug op die grootskerm
Hou vas aan jou sitplek want die grapjas, Leon Schuster, is terug met ’n splinternuwe goedvoel-komedie, met skreeusnaakse insidente en ’n inspirerende storielyn, wat kykers van begin tot einde vasgenael sal hou. In ware Schuster-tradisie volg Frank & Fearless die wenresep van pittige komedie en humoristiese sosiale kommentaar waarvoor Leon se vorige werk, soos There’s a Zulu on my Stoep en Mr Bones, bekendheid verwerf het. Saam met medeskrywer en regisseur, Gray Hofmeyr, voer hy dit verder deur ’n baie relevante en kontroversiële storielyn in te werk, met ’n diep emosionele impak, wat dit kop-en-skouers laat uitstaan bo enige van dié ikoniese filmmaker se vorige werk. Die film word plaaslik versprei en ook landswyd uitgereik.

• 23 November: Festival of Christmas Music in Florida
The Augmented Choir of the Florida Methodist Church invites you to their Festival of Christmas Music at 7pm. • 24 November: Dangerous animals and outdoor hazards course at the Kloofendal Nature Reserve
Join the Friends of Kloofendal (FroK) for a dangerous animals and outdoor hazards course at the Kloofendal Nature Reserve, Galena Avenue, Kloofendal from 8.30am to 12 noon. The course will be presented by Warren Schmidt and include a book, course notes, species list and refreshments. All proceeds will be used for herpetological research and FroK. • 24 November: Frog evening at the Kloofendal Nature Reserve
Join the Friends of Kloofendal for a frog evening at the Kloofendal Nature Reserve, Galena Avenue, Kloofendal from 6pm to 8pm. The evening will start off with a presentation, followed by a walk in and around the wetland and dam, looking for frogs and other water creatures. Nets and sample jars will be provided and participants will be shown how to treat all living creatures with care and respect. Tickets cost R70 for adults, R60 for pensioners, R50 for children and R10 per car for the security guard. Bookings can be done through Quicket.

• 24 November: Tasting journey using healing botanicals in gin at Garden World
Join Sandy Roberts from the Margaret Roberts Herbal Centre at Garden World at noon as she takes you on a tasting journey using healing botanicals in gin. This pairing of botanicals and gin with sweet and savoury bites will inspire you to start your own herb garden. Sandy will partner with Francois and Vonmari Joubert, Michaelangelo Gold winners from the Magaliesburg Incedo Distillery. • 24 November: A touch of Christmas in Parkhurst
Miniaturists in Gauteng come from all walks of life, all areas and encompass a love of all things small. Miniature Showcase is where artisans showcase their work in the Miniature World. At this time of the year they include gifting and crafting with a Christmas theme. Miniatures, dollhouse accessories, supplies and Christmas gifting and crafting available. • 24 November: Event to show off your four-legged friend in Randfontein
A Datsun Dog Day is set to take place at Rand West Datsun and Nissan. This will be a fun day for dogs and owners aimed at raising donations of various kinds in aid of the Rand West SPCA. Datsun Dog titles up for grabs include Most Handsome Datsun Dog; Waggiest Tail Datsun Dog and Most Spoiled Datsun Dog. Entries closed on 22 November. The Herald will be attending the event.

• 25 November: Richie’s Toy and Model Car Fair in Emmarentia
Richie’s Toy and Model Car Fair at Marks Parks Sports Club in Emmarentia, is organised by collectors for collectors and will showcase and all kinds of collectible toys, trains and models, which will be for sale. Leading specialist dealers will be at the show, selling all kinds of new and old collectibles. You can find model cars, lorries, buses and airplanes, Dinky Toys, Matchbox, Hot Wheels, Corgi Toys, and Star Wars, James Bond and other TV and film-related collectibles, Lego, Scalextric, model railways, teddy bears, action figures and much, much more. • 25 November: Butterfly walk at the Kloofendal Nature Reserve
Join the Friends of Kloofendal for a butterfly walk at the Kloofendal Nature Reserve, Galena Avenue, Kloofendal from 9am to 11am. Try and catch butterflies with the provided nets and collection jars. You will be shown how to do this without harming the butterflies. Look and learn about them and then release them back into nature. Tickets cost R70 for adults, R60 for pensioners and R50 for children. Bookings can be done through Quicket.

• 28 November to 8 December: Transforming Arts/ Transforming Lives conference and festival at Wits University
Drama For Life has great pleasure in announcing its 10th Drama for Life Conference and Festival ‘Transforming Arts/ Transforming Lives’ which will be held at Wits University. This unique initiative will feature a wide range of topics from trauma and gender, sexualities, the body politic to aesthetic disruptions, Africa and the reclamation of spirituality, children and theatre, youth theatre and sexual health as well as arts therapies for mental health and wellness. The Arts in Conversation Series, curated in partnership with DFL’s key stakeholders and leading arts organisations, is but one of the many highlights of this exceptional Conference and festival that will enhance the knowledge base and experience of artists, community artists, arts healers and arts therapists, arts and cultural leaders and managers, arts educators, arts academics and arts researchers, and arts activists.
