Four held after murder, business robbery at local café

Four men were arrested for the murder of a man and business robbery at a gambling café in Westonaria during the weekend.

Four suspects, aged between 27 and 42, have been arrested for a murder and business robbery that took place at a gambling café in Westonaria during the weekend.

According to Warrant Officer Raymond Sebonyane, Westonaria Police spokesperson, “It is alleged that the suspects had entered the gambling café, one armed with a firearm, and demanded the money. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money and a cellphone. On their way out, several shots were fired. One man was fatally injured and was certified dead by paramedics on the scene.”

Sebonyane added the men were arrested by the West Rand Cluster Trio Tracing Team, who had followed up on information received.

The suspects are all expected to appear at in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court soon.

Colonel Selvan Moonsamy, Westonaria Police station commander commended the members for a job well done and also thanked the community for the information that led to the arrest.
