Regarding the Yellowstone Auto incident, Hendricks said, “The complainant alleges he was at Yellowstone Auto to collect his vehicle after he had withdrawn an undisclosed amount of money at Maponya Mall in Soweto. While he was talking to the salesperson, two unknown men entered the office,” she said.
The complainant alleged that the perpetrators had firearms.
“One of the perpetrators went to the receptionist while the other stayed with the complainant. He demanded the money the complainant had withdrawn, plus his watch and his wallet that also contained cash. They also took the salesperson’s cellphone,” Hendricks said.
The suspects then left in a white GWM double-cab bakkie with registration number FM 62 MC GP. Hendricks confirmed that no one was injured during the incident.
Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, the Randfontein station commander, is urging the community not to inform anyone when they will be withdrawing money.
“Even the person closest to you can be the one robbing you”, he said.
