Head-on crash leaves woman critically injured
Woman left critically injured following a head-on crash between a bakkie and light motor vehicle in Carletonville a day before the Easter weekend.
Two people were left injured, one of them critically, following a head-on crash between a bakkie and light motor vehicle on the R500 in Carletonville a day before the Easter weekend.
Russel Meiring, ER24’s spokesperson, said they arrived on the scene along with other services at about 8am on Thursday, 18 April to find the bakkie and light motor vehicle on the side of the road.

He said the driver of the bakkie, a man, was found walking around on the scene while the driver of the light motor vehicle, a woman in her 30s, was found trapped inside her vehicle.
Rescue services had to use specialised equipment to free the entrapped woman in an operation lasting an hour.
“Once freed, paramedics treated both patients and provided the critically injured woman with advanced life support interventions.
“Shortly after treatment, the critically injured woman was airlifted to a private hospital by a private medical helicopter. The man was transported by ambulance.”
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
