Mohlakeng’s elderly get alarm system

Mohlakeng residents who are easy targets, like the elderly, live in constant fear but their brand new alarm systems will change that.

The vulnerable in Mohlakeng will no longer live in fear.

The Randfontein Police, MeMeZa Community Safety and their sponsor, South Africa Breweries have started to install alarm systems in various places in Mohlakeng on Monday, 13 May.

Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson said the most vulnerable will benefit.

“We are mainly focusing on elderly residents who live alone, and on old age homes in general. We will hand out 600 panic buttons to mostly elderly people. These panic buttons make a loud noise and will get the attention of everyone in the neighbourhood. Alarms will also be installed in clinics and schools,” she added.
