The Life Esidimeni Randfontein Centre received 104 mattresses thanks to an initiative by Vitafoam and the Touching One Foundation on Tuesday, 14 May.

According to Maxine Bechoo of Vitafoam, the aim of the handover was to restore the dignity of the residents of the centre.

Tanya van Leeuwen, manager of the female halfway house, said the gesture was welcomed, adding that many of the residents have suffered the harshest conditions and were robbed of their basic human rights.

Ivy Radcliffe of the Touching One Foundation added that they decided on the donation after visiting the centre and realising the need many of the residents of the centre had.
