Police take a stand against child abuse

Bekkersdal Police lead a campaign to mark child protection week.

The Bekkersdal Police’s social crime prevention unit recently visited five crèches in the area in light of National Child Protection Week, which is from 2 to 9 June.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, said they were joined by some traffic officers as well as a pastor.

“The children were taught about self-love and self-respect. We are all saying “No” to child abuse.”

She added that the local traffic police concentrated on issues relating to road safety, mainly pedestrian crossings, while the pastor anointed and blessed the kids with the Word of God.

All the kids were also given a goodie bag.
