Finsbury beauty off to the US to make us proud

Randfontein's very own Botlhale Bemoya is ready to do the town proud on the international beauty stage in the US.

Finsbury’s very own Botlhale Bemoya is ready to do the town and country proud internationally.

The 14-year-old resident of Finsbury is a Grade 9 learner at Randfontein High School, and will, along with eight other beauty queens, be representing South Africa at the International Junior Miss (IJM) competition to be held in Orlando, Florida between 8 and 13 July.

The proud beauty queen said she has always been into pageantry, and took part in small competitions without knowing where it would take her one day.

“When I was properly introduced to professional modelling by Zanele Phakate, who was my mentor, she taught me that modelling is not just about beauty – there are many things about it that empower others,” Botlhale said.

In her mission, Botlhale said she wanted to highlight the fact that the industry does not only revolve around beauty – it is also about what one can do to give back to the community.

“One of the things I want to teach youngsters is how they can be in charge of their self-confidence and in control of their self-esteem.”

As a result of the many community projects and attributes she has, Botlhale was nominated to take part in the IJM. Among others, she donates food, clothes and sanitary towels to the needy.

I also visit old age homes to bath and feed them,” Bothlale said.

Botlhale said she has over 30 titles, among them Teen South Africa Universal 2018. In April, she was also crowned Miss United Continent South Africa 2019.

“It is such an honour to be of the part of the delegation going to the US. I hope it will be a safe and fulfilling trip and the start of many wonderful things to come,” Bothlale said.
