Bikers host fundraiser for five-year-old
Bikers from across the West Rand came together in Middelvlei last weekend to raise funds for five-year-old Evangeline, who has a hearing impairment.
Tudor Rebels Far West Chapter held a fundraiser for the five-year-old Evangeline Leila Weideman, who is hearing-impaired, in Middelvlei on Saturday, 22 June.
The funds are needed for her third set of hearing aids. The fundraiser saw biking clubs from various parts of the West Rand take part.
According to her father, Malcom Wiedeman, Evangeline was diagnosed with a genetic hearing impairment shortly after she was born. R50 000 is needed to cover the cost of a new set of hearing aids for her.
“As a biker community, we often try to help those who are less fortunate, either by helping to raise funds or donating what they need,” Erens de Witt, the chairperson of Tudors Rebels Far West said.
Erens went on to say that as Evangeline’s father is a member of the club, they decided to take the initiative to help the family.
“As we raise funds every year, we have decided to do it for her, and all of the bikers who were there showed keenness and great support for this initiative,” Erens added.
Malcom thanked everyone involved, saying, “We don’t know all the people personally, but I want to thank all those who attended the fundraiser, especially the bikers, for coming together for such a good cause”.
