Fire in R’fontein CBD: Investigation under way
PICS: Business badly damaged in the CBD after fire breaks out. Randfontein Fire and Rescue Services to investigate.
An investigation is under way after a fire broke out at a business in the Randfontein CBD during the weekend.
At this stage, no injuries have been reported, but the business was badly damaged. According to Bennie Mohlabeng, Regional Commander of the Randfontein Fire and Rescue Services, they managed to stop the fire from spreading to the neighbouring stores.

“Our firefighters worked very hard to save the neighbouring stores. We believe that the fire was quickly contained, but it could have escalated if a nearby car shop had caught fire. We would like to thank all the firefighters who were part of the mission.”
Mohlabeng added that the exact cause of the fire is not yet known, but that the incident is being investigated.
