JUST IN: Teen killed in R559 crash with truck

Paramedics found the body of a boy, believed to be 17-years-old, lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle – ER24.

A teenager was killed when a light motor vehicle and a truck collided on the R559 in Randfontein on Tuesday night (6 August).

He was the only occupant of the light motor vehicle.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson said they arrived on the scene shortly after 8pm to find the wrecked light motor vehicle on the side of the road.

He said the truck that collided with it had come to a stop approximately 100 metres away.

“Paramedics found the body of a boy, believed to be 17-years-old, lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle. He sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead.

“The driver of the truck was assessed and found to have escaped injury.”
