They say a dog is a man’s best friend, but what if it turns on you?

As we recently reported on a story of child who was mauled to death by a family dog, the Herald spoke to the Rand West SPCA’s Junior Cuna, a Field Officer, about dogs who attack.

Junior said dogs sometimes bite as a result of contracting diseases such as rabies and distemper, which affect their normal behaviour.

“Once a dog bites someone or tastes blood, it becomes necessary to put it down, because it will continue to bite and endanger the lives of those around it,” Cuna said.
