Get to know a ‘Teiner’ #130 — Annelise van der Vyver

The 130th person in the Herald’s Get to know a Randfonteiner project introduces herself.

Meet our ‘Teiner’ of the week, Annelise van der Vyver, 54, a dedicated secretary at Avante Primary School who said when she is not bound to her desk, she gets to be adventurous and appreciates what life has to offer.

“My life basically revolves around doing what I love. I do not like routine, but love to solve problems and come up with solutions every day. I love things that are challenging to my mind,” Annelise said.

Born in Bloemfontein, Annelise moved to Gauteng in 1992. She said she has been blessed with a happy marriage and three wonderful children.

Every now and then, she said, either at work or home, she likes to remind people that there is a lighter side to life.

“Hence I always make a joke or two. To me, life does not always have to be serious or fancy. I believe that simplicity is the best thing one can enjoy. For example, instead of going to a nice restaurant or a hotel, I am someone who would rather go out in the wild, and enjoy something like camping; doing things that are close to nature.

I like things that are out of the ordinary because these are things that I believe can keep one alive, and that’s how we should keep it,” Annelise said.
