Local animal lover shows love in Northern Cape

Good Samaritan and animal lover, Stephan Hendricks took 1 300kg of dog and cat food to Strydenburg in the Northern Cape after raising funds to help animals in distress.

After reading a Facebook post by Minkie van Vuuren requesting assistance for the starving animals in the drought-stricken area, Stephan wasted no time to jump into action.

“I wished to raise money to purchase 500kg of dog food, and within three days I reached my goal,” Stephan said.

He went on to say that it did not stop there. “People kept on donating food and other items to the extent that it became too much for my bakkie to transport all the way to the Northern Cape.

“Luckily the guys at Action Ford Krugersdorp helped me with a much bigger bakkie. We left Randfontein on Sunday 6 October and delivered the cat and dog food along with other supplies.”

Stephan said he was truly inspired when he saw how grateful people were to receive the assistance.

“When the community saw what we were unpacking, they were very glad, especially knowing that their animals would be fed for a little while,” Stephan said.
