Taking Snoopy home!
Dr Doret du Plessis gave some tips on how to care for a new addition to your family.
The Herald spoke to veterinarian Dr Doret du Plessis at Culemborg Veterinary Clinic on how to take good care of your new pet.
The following are some of the tips she gave:
• Security, comfort and a lot of love will be some of your dog’s most basic needs.
• Adopting from an animal shelter is more cost-effective as the adoption fees will include vaccinations and sterilisation.
• Feed animals the best quality pet food. Do not feed them human food, as some of it endangers your pet’s health.
• Clean, fresh water must always be available.
• Exercise is very important for your pet’s health.
• Pets need to socialise too!
• It is expensive to keep a pet and you must be willing to take responsibility for the expenses when you take a puppy home.
