Support campaign against gender-based violence

The Simelane Heritage Foundation will hold a gender-based violence awareness campaign at the Westonaria Borwa Taxi Rank on Saturday, 23 November.

The event starts at 8.30am.

“The event consist of various activities and speeches by local stakeholders, including police, social workers and pastors. There will also be a 1,5km walk. The reason for this campaign is the alarming increase in incidences of abuse and rape in Westonaria. Some cases are reported, but struck off the roll. Some don’t even reach a magistrate, ” Bheki Simelane of the Foundation said.
