Four-vehicle crash leaves five injured – two critical

Crash involving four vehicles left five people injured, two of them critically, during the weekend.

Five people were injured, two them critically, when four vehicles collided on the R501 in Carletonville on Sunday night, 12 January.

“ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene at 10.56pm to find the vehicles scattered on the road. Medics assessed the patients found on the scene and found that two people had sustained numerous injuries,” said Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson.

He added that patients were treated for their injuries and the critically injured were provided with life support interventions.

“Once treated, one of the critically injured patients was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a provincial hospital while the remaining patients were transported by ambulance. The exact details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,”Meiring said.
