Police visit Mohlakeng to discuss social ills

Randfontein Police held an awareness campaign about social ills in Mohlakeng recently.

The Randfontein Police’s Social Crime Prevention Unit recently spearheaded an awareness campaign about social ills in Mohlakeng.

According to Constable Portia Mabala of the Unit and coordinator of the project, the campaign was aimed at addressing a number of issues including substance and drug abuse, gender-based violence, youth development, teenage pregnancy and reinforcing social cohesion.

“We also condemn violence against the police. We interacted with the community and urged them to report any illegal activities in their areas. We advised them to refrain from buying stolen goods as well.

“Our police members took part in soccer games and reminded young boys and girls to stay away from illegal activities and keep themselves busy through sport,” Mabala said.
