Two wanted after store robbed at gunpoint

Local police are investigating a case of business robbery after an owner was robbed at gunpoint last week.

Bekkersdal Police have launched a manhunt for two suspects who allegedly robbed a tuckshop in Cindi Street, Bekkersdal last Friday.

According to Seargent Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, the suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of money, cigarettes and airtime.

“One unknown man entered under the pretence of being a customer. A few minutes after he had left, he came back armed with a firearm and pointed it at the owner,” Lefakane said.

She added during that, another man went inside the shop and took the items before they both fled in a white corolla which was parked near the shop.

“The police were summoned and a case of business robbery is underway,” Lefakane said.

Lieutenant Colonel Andile Moshani, the acting Bekkersdal Police station commander urged all business owner to remain vigilant and ensure that business are secured all the the time

“It is advisable to sell through the window while the door remains closed and locked. This could help prevent cases like this from happening,” Moshani said.
