A one metre-deep hole was found outside the premises of the Myburgh Foundation on Thursday, 6 February from where it is believed the earth wires had been stolen.
According to Randy Christian, co-founder of the foundation, the holes were dug by thieves hoping to extract cables running underground, to get the copper.
“This occurred between 2.30am and 4pm this morning. We want to make the public aware in order to mitigate loss of cables and the negative impact it would have on the power supply.
“They sell the copper wire to the scrap metal dealerships without thinking about he consequences of their deeds,” Christian said.
