Stuck in the dark? Here’s what to do during load-shedding

One thing that can unite a whole country is … load-shedding!

Michelle Roodt, Herald journalist gave the following tips on how to keep oneself busy during load-shedding:

• If you have Netflix, why not download some movies or series before the scheduled power cuts, sit back, relax and watch away on your laptop.

• Why not dust off and finish reading that book that you bought ages ago?

• If you want to practise your photography skills and take some shots of the moon, the complete darkness makes the moon look even brighter.

• Did load-shedding mess up your cleaning schedule? You can always tape a small flashlight to the broom and still get that to-do list done.

• Since there is no power, why not take the time to ask your family how they are doing. No one will be glued to their phones and it is a great time to catch up with one another.

• Grab the Uno cards, Monopoly and 30 seconds, get some candles and organise a game night with friends while enjoying some snacks.

Load-shedding is indeed a problem for everyone but there are ways to make it fun and bearable.
