Police across the West Rand held a joint parade with the South African National Defence Force during the annual Randfontein Show.

Police across the West Rand held a joint parade with the South African National Defence Force during the annual Randfontein Show on Friday, 6 March.

Among the activities Show-goers enjoyed were police simulations with the K9 unit.

Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson added that people were also educated about the different career paths within the police.

“The Forensic Unit, Detective Service, Recruitment, Water Wing, Drug Unit and Crime Line also had a display.”

As far as tackling crime was concerned, Hendricks said, “There was a high police visibility throughout the duration of the Show to ensure that criminal activities were contained. The police Venue Operational Centre (VOC) was also available where incidences could be reported,” Hendricks said.

Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, the Randfontein Police station commander thanked all police officers, members of the public, community policing forums (CPFs), community patrollers, security companies and all car guards.

“They ensured that the Randfontein Show was a success and without any incidents,” he said.
