European football is reaching the final stages of the 2019 season. There are only ten match days left in both the La Liga and the English Premier league. Liverpool looks set to win this year’s English Premiership. The team is 25 points ahead of its second place Manchester City on the log sheet. Choosing who will win this year’s La Liga is not so clear cut as the English Premier League. Barcelona has a two point lead over Real Madrid but it’s anyone’s guess as to which team will be crowned the best with so little games remaining in the tournament. Locally our SA Premier Division is also coming close to finishing for the season. Kaizer Chiefs is currently in first position with 48 but runners up Mamelodi Sundowns, Supersport United and Orlando Pirates are hot on their heels. The tournament comes to an end in May.
Football fans would be excited to know that the Euro 2020 will kick off in June. At this stage no requests have been given to delay the tournament due to the Corona Virus concerns. Euro 2020 has changed the host format for to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the tournament. Instead of one county being the host, 12 cities from all over Europe will now host matches. The opening match will played at the Olimpico Stadium in Rome between Italy and Turkey. A total of 24 teams will be participating in the event. The final match will be played at the Wembley Stadium in London. The UEFA champions League finals are getting close to finishing for the season. The second leg of the last 16 teams is being played during the course of next week.
