Gate-motor theft on the rise, warns EPR

EPR Security releases its latest crime report with theft, especially that of gate motors, being a concern.

Theft, especially gate motor theft is on the rise in Rand West City, warned Johan Krogh, general manager of EPR West Rand.

He said according to their latest crime report for the period Friday, 15 to Sunday, 17 May, there were at least six such incidents.

In addition, Krogh revealed at least four incidents of business break-ins, among other at a school in Bekkersdal and at Elandsvlei Smallholdings, as well as attempted housebreaking in Westonaria.

We urge the public to ensure that they secure their gate motors by using an anti-theft bracket.

“Other methods include securing the gate rail, and ensuring that brackets are in place to stop the gate from being lifted,” he said.
