Crime, specifically in Westonaria, is on the rise according to Mapogo A Mathamaga Security on the West Rand.
According to Herman Coetzee, Operations Manager at the security company, the crime report for the period from Sunday, 10 to Monday, 18 May for their client base revealed at least seven crime incidents of which four occurred in Westonaria.
“Crime in Westonaria in particular is at an all-time high,” he said.
There were three incidents of housebreaking, and one of damage to property in Westonaria alone.
“In addition, there were one incident of theft in Greenhills, and one common theft and another damage to property incident in Aureus.”
Coetzee again reminded business owners to remain extra vigilant.
“The current modus operandi of criminals is to break through the roof of a business.”
