WATCH: Church says no to gender-based violence

'We want to take a stand against the violence against women and children'

Members of the Methodist Church in Mohlakeng embarked on an awareness campaign against gender-based violence in Bekkersdal on Saturday, 21 November. The scourge continues to shock the country.

According to David Ndlovu, coordinator for the event and representative of the church’s Department of Development and Social Responsibilities Committee, “We want to take a stand against the violence against women and children. We will be moving to other areas within the West Rand to continue creating awareness,” Ndlovu said.

A candle was also lit in memory of those who died of domestic violence and abuse.
