It was a relatively quiet week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security with only a few incidents being reported in Randfontein.
Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said only four incidents were reported for their client base for the period between Monday, September 20 and Sunday, September 26.
A breakdown of the crime incidents:
• Monday, September 20 at 14:32 – Theft of motor vehicle, Van Riebeeck Street, Homelake. Thieves stole a learner’s maroon Opel Corsa from the open area across from the school whilst the learner was attending class.
• Thursday, September 23 at 06:50 – Theft and arrest, Greenhills Cemetery, Homestead Avenue, Greenhills. A man was in the process of stealing copper power cables from the cemetery when the onsite security guard noticed him and phoned the Mapogo control room. Response officer Vincent van der Hoogen rushed to the scene where he found the man with the copper cables in his possession. He was arrested and handed over to the Randfontein Police for further investigation.
• Thursday, September 23 at 19:48 – Medical, Ventersdorp Road, Wilbotsdal. Mapogo was requested to assist with a male that overdosed on benzene. On arrival the person was assisted by Mapogo and ER24 personnel and treated on the scene.
• Friday, September 24 at 20:53 – Attempted housebreaking, Diana Street, Homelake. Intruders gained entry to the property over the front wall and attempted to break into the premises but failed. They fled the scene when the alarm was activated.
