With so many animals looking for their forever homes, why not adopt one from one of your local shelters?
The Herald visited two loving animals that are looking for their own forever homes.
Firstly, meet Spice, a beautiful four-year-old male cat with light orange colours and the prettiest orange eyes.
Owner of Cast Aways Animal Sanctuary Louisa Rossouw explained that Spice is the king of the jungle.
“He is very loving and gets along with any cat. He came to the sanctuary in November 2014 when he was surrendered by his owners. He loves receiving and giving cuddles as well as rolling around in sand. He is neutered and ready for his forever home.”

Lilly, a three-year-old female Pekinese cross is looking for the right family to give lots of love to.
Rene van Straten, Inspector at the RandWest SPCA said Lilly is very loving and extremely friendly as you can see when her tail starts wagging enthusiastically.
She added that Lilly does very well with other dogs and cats.
Once she is adopted she will be spayed.
