Top judges compliment beauty queens and kings at fundraiser
Local judges said they were entertained by all the beauty queens and kings at the fundraiser
The judges at the Cast Aways Animal Sanctuary fundraiser congratulated the children for exuding fun, confidence and their competitive spirit among each other when they participated in the modelling competition and beauty contest on Saturday, November 13.
The competition was one of the drawcards to generate funds to help the centre take care of the more than 200 dogs and 100 cats on their premises. Aspiring beauty queens and kings, from toddlers to teenagers, strutted their stuff.
One of the judges, beauty pageant expert Janine van Loggerenberg Ferreira said all the participants were very spontaneous and showed confidence on the ramp.
“They loved the challenge and the idea that it was animal-themed; I love the fact that the youth in our town is so involved in charity,” Janine said.
Her fellow judge, Dalien Steenkamp, said it was not all about beauty and style, rather an opportunity for everyone to have fun, which fitted so well with theme of the day.
“You could see that it was well thought out – from the outfits to the make-up. It really was splendid,” Dalien added.
