Lenmed welcomes preemies for World Prematurity Day
Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital commemorated World Prematurity Day by celebrating some of the premature babies that were born there recently.
With at least one in 10 babies being born prematurely worldwide Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital had reason to celebrate.
To commemorate World Prematurity Day on Wednesday, November 17, the hospital celebrated some of the premature babies that were welcomed into the world recently.
UNICEF described World Prematurity Day as a day which “aims to raise awareness for the challenges of preterm birth, and shine a light on the risks and consequences faced by preterm infants and their families worldwide”.
According to Lenmed spokesperson Ofentse Pharumele celebrations included spreading awareness, and helping to address and discuss the main concerns of parents and caregivers.
“The day was filled with smiles, love, yummy treats on platters and a beautiful cake.”
The hospital celebrated the day with five mothers and their beautiful babies who are now grown.
“The day was a huge success and the mothers were also taught to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a baby.”
