Light aircraft crashes in Westonaria: Pilot killed

A pilot died when a light aircraft crashed in Westonaria over the weekend.

On Saturday, December 11 at approximately 12:08, Netcare 911 responded to a plane crash in Syferfontein in Westonaria which claimed the life of a pilot.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said reports indicated that a light aircraft had impacted the ground close to a nearby airfield.

The only occupant on board, an adult man, showed no signs of life and was sadly declared deceased on the scene,” confirmed Shawn.

He explained that the circumstances leading up to the incident are not known, however all relevant authorities were on scene.
