Know your three ballot papers
According to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), voters will receive three ballot papers to make their voices heard.
Come May 29, registered South Africans will flock to their voting stations to make their mark with the hope of either keeping the ruling party in power or bringing change. Whoever wins will be in government for the next five years.
This will be done by making your mark on three ballot papers. But what does each ballot paper even look like?
To relieve the worries of first-time voters and those who might have forgotten, the Randfontein Herald opted to share the information with the general public.
According to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), voters will receive three ballot papers to make their voices heard.
The first is known as the National Compensatory Ballot paper which is blue and the same across the entire country featuring political parties only who are contesting for seats in the national assembly.
The second is known as the National Regional Ballot paper which is orange, specific to your voting region and includes candidates running for the National Assembly who represent your area.
The third is known as the Provincial Legislature Ballot paper which is pink and described as unique to your province. It includes parties and independent candidates competing for seats in your provincial legislature.
