According to municipal spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa the damages caused by the severe thunderstorm have already been identified. This includes two damaged pole transformers – one in Wheatlands and one in Peacehaven. Then, there is a T.3 switch failure in Middelvlei which is affecting portions of Finsbury.

“An ongoing failure search is being conducted in Randfontein South and Pelzvale as well as Azaadville Gardens. Our teams are prioritising larger affected areas first while also attending to individual complaints.

We are working diligently to restore power as soon as possible. We humbly request residents to remain patient as we work to resolve these issues. Further updates will be provided as progress is made,” Montshiwa explained.
