Randfontein water levels take a hit after City Power outage

The municipality says contingency measures will be implemented if reservoir levels drop further.

Randfontein residents were notified of a temporary disruption to water pumping after a City Power electricity outage affected Rand Water’s Eikenhof Pump Station on Monday, September 7.

Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa confirmed that power has since been restored and the station is pumping at full capacity.

The temporary interruption may, however, result in lower reservoir levels in Randfontein.

The municipality’s Water Services Department is closely monitoring reservoir levels and will implement operational measures where necessary to protect the available water supply.

Further updates will be issued as information becomes available.

The municipality apologised for any inconvenience caused.
