Protesters dispersed from N12 in Westonaria – no arrests made

Police confirm no arrests or injuries following a protest that briefly disrupted traffic along the N12 in Westonaria.

Members of the Public Order Policing (POP) unit responded to a protest that broke out along the N12 in Westonaria earlier today, October 17.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo, demonstrators had blocked sections of the road, causing traffic disruptions.

POP officers were deployed to the scene and later dispersed the group, clearing the roadway. Masondo confirmed that no arrests were made and that there were no reports of injuries or damage to property.

“The reason behind the protest remains unclear at this stage, but authorities are monitoring the situation closely to prevent further disruptions,” Masondo said.
