“We strongly condemn all forms of gender-based violence. It is deeply upsetting that this incident occurred shortly after the college participated in the Women’s Shutdown to honour those who have lost their lives and those who continue to suffer in silence,” the statement read.
In the wake of the tragedy, the college has made trauma counselling available to students through its Student Support Services Unit.
“We send our heartfelt condolences to the family, students and staff of Western TVET College,” the statement concluded.
