Video: 2 killed in foiled robbery shootout in Homelake
Two suspected robbers were killed after a foiled robbery erupted into gunfire in Homelake.
Two suspected robbers were killed during a foiled robbery attempt at the corner of 12th Street and Park N Street in Homelake on Thursday morning, August 13.
The incident involved a white Volkswagen Crafter carrying tobacco products and a white Volkswagen Polo security vehicle. According to eyewitnesses, the suspects used two vehicles to block the Crafter before attempting to rob its occupants.

Eyewitnesses Megan Jafta and Lameez Simpson, who were nearby when the incident unfolded, said the suspects used a white Hyundai i10 and another vehicle described as a van resembling an NP200.
The attempted robbery reportedly came to an end after a security guard opened fire at the Hyundai from behind. The occupants of the other vehicle then fled the scene.

One suspect was found lying in the street with a firearm next to him, while a second suspect was found inside the Hyundai i10, which had crashed next to a local shop.
Another eyewitness, Magdeline Sinyuke, said the incident occurred before noon and that she arrived at the scene shortly afterwards.

Police were at the scene and were investigating the circumstances surrounding the attempted robbery.
Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi was approached for comment, but no immediate feedback was received.

The identities of the deceased suspects and further details surrounding the incident were not immediately available.
