Mining company boosts Myburgh Foundation’s fight against crime in Rand West
Stronger partnerships between law enforcement, businesses and community groups are helping equip local responders to tackle crime and protect residents.
Rand West City community safety received a boost on Friday, October 9, when Sibanye-Stillwater’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) department donated personal protective equipment, communication equipment and surveillance equipment to the Myburgh Foundation’s Emergency Support Team (E.S.T.).
The donation included ballistic vests, two-way radios and night-vision equipment to strengthen the team’s emergency response and crime prevention operations, particularly at night.
Myburgh Foundation founder Randy Christian welcomed the donation, describing it as a valuable contribution towards improving community safety and stating that it is vital in their fight against crime to make Rand West safe again.
Christian also expressed gratitude to two of the four sector managers from Mohlakeng SAPS who attended the handover, highlighting the importance of collaboration between law enforcement, businesses and community organisations in addressing crime.
He emphasised that building safer communities requires a collective effort and strong partnerships between all stakeholders, concluding that together, law enforcement, the business sector and the community can make a meaningful difference.
